July Newsletter |

Hi everyone, Just a quick note to up-date you all
and I hope you have all been enjoying yourselves at the numerous LYPs
arranged activities. WEDNESDAY,
20TH JULY - ARCHERY last session this term.
We are in a position now where some of the Archers are ready for
competition and Alan Dennis the instructor is arranging the formalities
required for the children to go forward and compete in the autumn. Please
take photos at the event for our scrapbook and don't forget to give Anna
and Stewart Willmore a big THANK YOU for hosting the event and Alan Dennis
for his commitment to us once again. Some new archery equipment has
replaced that purchased over eight years ago and has made a huge
difference. We no long need to borrow Alan's any more! THURSDAY,
21ST JULY - KWIK CRICKET last session this
term. Can some of you please take photos whilst there and e-mail them to
me so I can put in our scrap book which is available for all to see at the
awards ceremonies and is a record of our events. You should see some of
the photos from nearly 10 years ago when we first started LYPS! Can I take
this opportunity of thanking Steve Lincoln and other parent helpers for
all their support. The children have had a great time and it would be nice
if you could all give the helpers a big THANK YOU at the last session this
week. Don't forget the photos. FRIDAY,
22nd JULY - DORSET ACTION VAN with
games and bouncy castle at Well Plot - end of term fun. 6-7pm LYPs members ages 5 - 8 years
£1.00 7-9pm LYPs and Youth Club 8-9 years
plus £1.50 DONT
FORGET TO BRING ALONG A CONSENT FORM ON THE NIGHT. CONSENT FORM AVAILABLE
FROM TINA CORNISH OR DOWNLOAD
HERE If it's wet we'll have games in the
village hall but will not be able to have the bouncy castle in there I am
afraid. SATURDAY,
6TH AUGUST - it's LODERS FETE again
and we are very fortunate each year to receive a donation from the profits
of the fete from the fete committee. In return we encourage LYPs parents
to help in any way they can on the day. This year we will be running the
tennis speed serve competition again on the tennis courts at Loders Court
and we've been asked if we can persuade any of you to help in the tea
tent. If you cannot, could you then perhaps bake a cake or some buns, or
supply some soft drinks, tea or coffee? Any other help you can provide
would be appreciated so much - please let me know or contact Jessie
Barrett on tel: 423127; please let her know you represent LYPs. SATURDAY,
1st OCTOBER - LYPS 10TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY AND AWARDS - Please ensure you have this date in
your diary. We'll have the awards ceremony followed by a buffet tea - a
great way to celebrate 10 years of fun and achievements whilst socialising
with your friends. Everyone is asked to take a plate of
food eg: buns, cakes, sausage rolls, a salad, cheeses, biscuits, fruit
etc. SWIMMING
- We are sorry that we were unable to hold the last session at Beaminster
and we'll be talking to Penny to see when we can arrange a date to replace
that session and any future swimming. It will be subject to pool
availability. TENNIS
- We have over 20 children tennis members and would remind you that if you
wish to be included in the Wimbledon Tennis ticket ballot next year you
must complete a Bridport TC membership form (membership fees paid by LYPs
) and register with the LTA online British Tennis Membership (this is free
to U18s). Tennis courts are available for you to use in the summer, you
can reserve them with Bob at Bridport Sports shop, East Street, Bridport.
For more information please check out Bridport TC's website or contact
Alan Cash on 425210. Please note there is a different time table for the
summer holidays. Lesley. 01308 420767
