we're asking parents to bring along donations towards the buffet (ideas -
grapes, apples, cheeses, pate, baguettes, sausage rolls, pizza, pork pies,
crisps, sandwiches, cakes and buns). The committee will provide drinks
(teas, coffees and squash). It will be a fun night and a chance to meet up
with your friends whilst finding out who will be the most improved and a
runner up in categories tennis, real tennis, archery and
kwik cricket chosen by the individual coaches.
Who will be the recipient of the John Hughes special achievement
trophy this year? Please
e-mail Lesley to advise if you are coming and what you can provide for the
buffet. Please do support this
event and remind your friends about it.
Some help is required on the night please for setting up and
putting away the tables and chairs and general help in the kitchen and
laying out the buffet. MINI-TENNIS
(age 5-8) - sessions in the village hall earlier this year were well
attended. With kwik cricketers in mind, we hope to secure Alan Cash, coach
after the October school holidays for a block of sessions.
Perhaps you could let Steve know at kwik cricket if you are
interested in attending and he'll put your name down. Depending on demand,
we may run two groups again. ORIENTEERING
the children had a great time at Loders Court. We thank Mike and Mary Kite
for their organisation and the Reynolds family and parent helpers on the
night. Thanks too to Lord and Lady Hood for the use of their beautiful
grounds. See website photos. DORSET
ACTION VAN at Well Plot at the end of school term was well attended by
both age groups and much fun was had on the bouncy castle. Other games
played were football, lacrosse and kwik cricket. The rain towards the end
of the event did not deter everyone from having a great time. Thanks to
all youth club and LYPs helpers on the night. LODERS
FETE - Thank you to all LYPs parents and members who helped out on various
stalls, tea tent, face painting and the tennis speed serve competition at
the fete - it has been suggested that the committee of the PCC (organisers
of the fete) will once again be making a donation to youth organisations
in the village. Prizes were presented to winners of the tennis speed serve
competition; U11s Jack Parkman, 59mph, U16s Tom Morrisey (a visitor to the
area) 70mph, fastest lady was once again Lisa Parkman 62mph and fastest
male, last years winner too, Shaun Parkman with a fantastic speed of
95mph. HELP
FOR HEROES - please look for photos of the LYPs and Powerstock Junior
teams who played a cricket friendly at Nettlecombe raising over £80 for
the Help for Heroes charity on our pages on Loders school website. Thank
you to everyone involved on the day including Anthony Hughes for preparing
the ground, umpires Ashley Chant and Shaun Parkman and all cake bakers and
ladies serving refreshments. The
money raised was from match fees, refreshment sales and a second hand
sports clothing table. Oh,
forgot to mention - Powerstock won! Please remind your friends of the above dates and
events. Lesley Lee 01308 420767
