LYPs 264
runs Powerstock 283 runs
Looking
very smart in their LYPs polo shirts, LYPs members were feeling very
confident about this game, having won the last two previous games
against PJCC.
The weather and setting was perfect and family spectators enjoyed refreshments
including home-made cakes and buns which were sold to raise money for
the Help for Heroes charity. Match fees and a second hand sports gear
table helped raise £80 on the day.
Unfortunately, LYPs
could not make up the numbers when they chased 283 and only managed
to get 264 runs when a calamity of events happened with the Ollie
Lee/Sam Farrow final pair who just could not make it work. To be fair
there was a great fielding effort from the Powerstock young side who
had batted confidently too.
Special thanks to Shaun Parkman and Ashley Chant for umpiring, Mr Wyrill
for scoring, Laurie Farrow for her catering equipment and stove and
Antony Hughes for preparing the field for play and all the bakers who
never let us down.
Man of the match awards went to Jack Parkman for LYPs and Marcus White for
Powerstock both boys being the youngest members in their team but
performed brilliantly.
