Silva Award 2018

Congratulations to John Warren (Wimborne Orienteers life member) who yesterday was awarded the 2018 British Orienteering Silva Award.

This award is for someone who has made a significant contribution to orienteering through ‘field’ activities.

John's contribution is, by anyone's standards significant. He has been volunteering at local, national and international events since he took up orienteering over 40 years ago.

The following quote is taken from an article that John wrote for the club magazine titled "Volunteer at your Peril"

"‘Volunteering’ hasn’t been so much of an effort, it has mostly been a real sense of satisfaction and I hope that in a small way has contributed to a lot of people having enjoyable experiences taking part in the sport that we love."
