We were all nervous even though we had weeks of practice. The May Queen was standing at the top of the ramp with her attendants behind her, waiting to walk in and to be crowned.
Her attendants were very handsome and pretty they are called Tommy (who held the May Queen’s crown and Mr. Page turner’s flower,) Levi (who helped Tommy with the crown and flower,) Angelica (who stood behind the two boys) and Kimberley (who held hands with Angelica.)
The May Queen was very nervous. She glided beautifully and slowly, because of her attendants being very little; at the start of her walk in there were lots of cameras flashing at her trying to get a good picture. She was half way through when one of her best friends from year 6 shouted "Good luck!" she was glad this person had said this because it got rid of her butterflies. She then got to where she was going to be crowned, outside the Pergola. The vicar who did assemblies every month for Loders school and Powerstock School, teaching the children of each school about Christ and his followers, was crowning her. He had retired earlier that month and most children were sad to see him go. He then crowned her it was a very happy moment. The crowd was starting to clap they were all smiling she was very happy. Mr. Page turner then made his speech, after he said this he announced he was going to give her a little kiss on the cheek, which he did; this rooted the May Queen to the spot.

She was very happy. Sadly her day ended but that day was a special day, which shall remain in her memory for a long time.

On 26th may 01 our school did some maypole dancing on the school field.
First came the dance in, by years 5 and 6. We were paired up boys and girls. Any way we were supposed to be! It ended up with Hazel and Fiona because Ricky was away again!!!
Then we handed the ribbons over to years 3 and 4 for their double plaiting dance. It was very good with no mistakes at all. It was a fast and lively dance, which the audience thoroughly enjoyed.
Next is the years 1and 2 doing a dance called the Barbers pole but Alex had a tummy ache so Becky who is an ex-pupil had to take his place. She danced very well seeing as she hadn’t done that dance in five years!
Next the reception children did a dance called My Little Princess, which everyone adored. The main parts were Lauren as the princess, Iona as the wicked witch, and William as the handsome prince and the others as towers, trees and sleeping people.
Then came the first of the year 5 and 6 dances. It’s called the Spiders web. It started off fine but then a ribbon was missed, we started going at different speeds…
In other words - it went wrong!
As I said it started off O.K but then some one missed out a ribbon and ended up on the same ribbon as me (Laura) so we were trying to go around the same ribbon at the same time! So we ended up getting tangled but when we finished we each got an individual round of applause, which was all right!
Then came the single plaiting. I think that most of us were a bit worried because in one of the rehearsals the maypole fell down! But never the less we all had fun! It’s nearly the same as the double plaiting except you have a ribbon each.
Then for the lead out and the end of this report!

The Veterans Dance
The demo was going brilliantly but when Laura, Ziggy, Emma, Pearl, Christy, Ronan, Ian and I handed over to the first group it all started to go wrong.
The first team started to dance and they were getting on well until the three loud notes in the middle where you are supposed to change direction but only a few of them changed! The second group made NO MISTAKES AT ALL!
The third group was from Mr. Foot's class. They got totally muddled so some of the demo team went into help them.
As you can probably guess, the second group won!

At the Mayfair, the PTFA made a huge 1,500 pounds!!!!!!!
Lots of people joined in, making a frutivegman, going on the bouncy castle (most of the people on the bouncy castle were over 12!!!), trying the kids tombola and rolling their own candle, to say a few.
Harry Potter zoomed into action with his very own treasure map and every body got jolly and raised money in the jolly jar stall, and the mum's Mafia (a collaboration between Harriet and Lisa) robbed everybody at the pick a lolly table.
Also, we had some gambling addicts at the human fruit machine, BIG nourishment at our very own barbecue, and some hi-level auctioning at the fifty-fifty stall.
There was a toy stall for all the 'ickle littleys, and to finish there was a cake stall which almost fell through the ground because there was so much choice.
