In
the middle of June bees swarmed Loders playground in the middle of
playtime. Luckily, no one was injured. A couple of weeks later some holes
appeared in the ground. Mr Kite (the head of Loders primary school) had to
investigate if the bees or wasps would harm any one. It were thought that that
the holes would contain eggs and they were a certain species of miner bees or
wasps.
Because
Mr Kite didn’t know if they were wasps or bees, he cut off the area where the
wasps were. A couple of days later, Mrs Buckland caught one of the wasps and
tried to identify the wasps, but it was no use. Next we tried to send some e
mails to some people who know a lot about insects, but still it didn’t work.
There was only one thing that they could do and that’s to call the
environmental health officer.
The
environmental health officer later identified them as ‘solitary bees.’
