On Tuesday the 6th of June,

Year 5/6 went caving and climbing.

The year sixes (plus Gemma and Pearl)

had Mrs Carter (Kate's mum) a lady called Di,

a lady called Jess and a man named Tim to help.
First year six tried the climbing wall; first we went on the wall, which was tilted in, it was called the slab. Then we went on the second wall, which was vertical, and last but not least was the third wall, which was the hardest of all the walls because it was over-hanging. Di set us a task after that; we had to get 15 points on the walls. The first wall, which was the easiest was 1 point if you got across that and touched the door at the other end, the vertical wall was 2 points of you crossed that, then was the hardest wall: the over- hanging wall, which was 3 points if you crossed it.

After about 15 minutes of slipping off and falling over, our total result was 13 points!

In the end nobody crossed the third wall and only Leah crossed the vertical wall.

Then we were shown how to put on our helmets and harnesses, and when that was over, we went outside on the climbing tower. We each went in groups of 3 or 4 and as soon as Di showed us what to do, we each took it in turns to have a go. In my group I climbed up first while Natalie and Louise manned the ropes. When I had got to the top I had the choice whether I could be lowered down or climb down, I chose to be lowered. I had to lean back and slowly shuffle my feet down the rocks. Only about 4 or 5 of us did this.

After all of our group went up we got moved to a different wall. And so did the boys!

So in the end Natalie Louise and me were racing Paul, Dale and Jonathan up the tower!

After everyone went on the tower about twice and Mrs Carter had

taken a picture we all went in for lunch and prepared for the caving.

On Tuesday 6th June 00 Year 6 went caving in flagpole cave on Portland.

We had 4 adults with us Diana, Barbara, Tim and Jessie.

We went on a bus to the cave where we had to follow a small path on the edge of a cliff. We were really alarmed when we got to the cave because it seemed quite small but we were in for a surprise! We were climbing over lots of big boulders when Becky’s light went out so Charlotte who was in front of her had to help. We finally came to a part of the cave called the letterbox and everyone got through at last. We thought the cave was damp enough but when we came out we found out that it was actually raining!
