Parents and staff managed brilliantly to spring a surprise party on our long standing head teacher.

Even the children were kept in the dark as the party, held at Loders Village Hall, followed a Baptism service held at Loders Church as part of the RE Celebrations. Elizabeth Findlay organised the baptism and the PTFA organised the party for the whole school.

The children burst into singing “For he’s a jolly good fellow” as their headmaster arrived. (They had been practising quietly earlier at school – not knowing why!)

Mr Kite was presented with a weather vane to be erected on the school. The weather vane was in the shape of an orienteer – his favourite hobby. He also was given a painting of ‘ Happy Island ’ and a cake with a picture of Loders School on it. There was also a book for guests to sign

Mrs Stripp, Mrs Good and Mrs Mapes were given flowers to congratulate them on their many years at the school.
