The children are usually taught as three classes. Robins are taught as a year-group for literacy, maths & French and are with the Jackdaws for most other lessons. Mike Kite has been headteacher of Loders School since January 1984 and now shares the headship with Shirley Gibbs. Mike teaches some maths and PE lessons in the Jackdaws; Shirley teaches some literacy lessons and humanities. Sarah Sutton is your first point of contact for other Jackdaws matters. Beth McGrath and Rowan Beecham share the Class Teacher role in the Woodpeckers. Beth teaches the Woodpeckers on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays. Rowan teaches the class on Thursdays & Fridays.Stella Fearon is Assistant Headteacher. She teaches our youngest children, the Wrens. The teachers are well supported by Teaching Assistants who give classroom help with special needs, literacy and mathematics, intervention programmes for specific groups, and a wide range of other activities. We also benefit from violin and guitar tuition by Dorset Music Service teachers, woodwind tuition for Year 4 by a Dorset Music Service teacher, and gymnastics teaching by Mrs Jan Thorne at Bridport Leisure Centre. Parents and Governors are closely involved in the life of the school and voluntary helpers assist with many activities. We are a happy community with a friendly, informal atmosphere. Great emphasis is placed on kindness and understanding, co-operation between adults and children, older people looking after younger people, and consideration for others. |
