EDUCATIONAL VISITS

Children throughout the school enjoy educational visits such as day trips connected with work that they are doing in class. Destinations have included the city of Exeter, Dorset County Museum at Dorchester, Scaplen's Court Museum at Poole, Kingston Maurward Agricultural College, Cranborne Ancient Technology Centre, the Kingcombe Centre and Portsmouth Historic Ships.

Year 4 children visit Weymouth Outdoor Education Centre for climbing and adventurous pursuits. Years 5 and 6 enjoy residential visits to Leeson House Field Studies Centre near Swanage, where we have developed a two-year cycle of activities including orienteering, the stone industry, local history, coastal geography and natural science. We have also begun triennial residential stays with Years 4-6 at Bellever Youth Hostel, Dartmoor, taking in Plymouth National Marine Aquarium on the outward journey and Morwellham Quay on the return trip.
