Caving and Climbing.
Caving

On Monday 30 March, year 5 went caving and climbing at the outdoor education centre at Portland. In the morning we went to see Rubbish Dump Cave. It was in a quarry full with rubbish !! We got in through a little hole in the wall of the quarry. It was very dark so we had lights on our helmets. As we went further in it became darker and darker. Soon we came to the water hole. It was a hole in the cave floor big enough for us to stand in. It was usually full of water but today it was empty. Then we went along a smaller tunnel. It was very tight, low and wet. There were lots of interesting rocks to look at. One wall looked like milk chocolate !! And another we nicknamed camel poop !!!!!!!! As we went along the tunnel it became wetter and wetter and tighter. Soon we were squeezing past rocks and stalactites. Finally we got to the end. It was called the coffin. When it was time to come out Mr Kite asked us to turn our lights off and we went out in the dark!!!

Climbing

When we got back to the centre we had our lunch and got changed. Then we went climbing. We put on our harnesses and walked to the climbing tower. It didn't seem very tall but it was. We were in groups of three, I was with Anna Bariffi and Waldo Etherington. Our first climb was easy. Our Second one was easy. But the fourth one was not so easy. It had an overhang. After that we went home. It was brilliant.
