On the 24 November 00 year 5 and 6 of Loders schoolwent to Hooke Court for a Victorian day. We dressed up as Victorian children, and we were trying to find jobs as Victorian servants.

Some of us made candles we used a wick and dipped it in to some very hot wax, we held the wick in the wax for three seconds and then did the same with cold water, it took about 5 minutes to make it.

While 4 people were at the candle-making table, the rest of us were making cakes and biscuits in the Victorian kitchen, we were making 2 different types of biscuits and 2 different types of cakes there were the Dorset apple cake, scones, ginger bread men and Wareham biscuits

We wrote our menus in the schoolroom with ink pens, in fancy old English writing.

The old English writing was really hard to do because it was so detailed, we had to polish our shoes and look and act really Victorian.

In the schoolroom we also polished brass and silver with old ragged bits of material, the pink varnish was for silver and the white was for the brass there were lots of things to be done.

We also folded napkins to look like Victorian styles, and we had to lay the table like the Victorians had.

We had our lunch in the reception but we did not have very long.

After all the excitement we had some of the biscuits. We had lots of fun on our trip and only 6 of us were servants but had a great time.
